ANIMAL PLANET TO DIVE INTO A SECOND SEASON OF SPLASHY AQUARIUM SERIES “TANKED”

Successful Summer Series Gets Greenlight for 10-Episode Sophomore Season in 2012; Wayde King and Brett Raymer to Return with Bigger Builds, Jaw-Dropping Tanks and Fishy Fun

September 27, 2011

(New York, New York, September 27, 2011) - After six episodes following the frenzied drama and incredible aquarium builds of Wayde King and Brett Raymer's family business, Animal Planet has ordered a second season of the series TANKED, adding ten brand-new episodes that will premiere in Spring 2012.  Casting for the second season is also currently in progress.  The inaugural season of TANKED delivered 789,000 P2+ viewers, and the finale delivered nearly one million P2+ viewers (955,000).

The wet and wonderful world of TANKED introduces viewers to some of the most amazing and creative tank and aquariums builds for top celebrities, luxury hotels, Fortune 500 businesses, private homes and millionaire homeowners, and are filled with some of the most extraordinary aquatic wildlife from around the globe.  The larger-than-life duo of Wayde and Brett are business partners, brothers-in-law, best friends, pranksters and constant rivals who are determined to create, build, and unveil some of the most over-the-top aquariums the world has ever seen. But it's not just about the boys - it's a family affair, because they're joined by Heather, Wayde's wife and Brett's sister; Brett and Heather's father, "The General;" and a motley crew of designers, engineers, installers, cleaners and builders - making them one big dysfunctional, brash and super-sized family.

TANKED is produced for Animal Planet by Nancy Glass Productions.  Nancy Glass and Eric Neuhaus are the executive producers for Nancy Glass Productions, and Melinda Toporoff is the executive producer for Animal Planet.  TANKED was developed by Animal Planet's Charlie Foley.

I think it is a cop out saying they don't have any control over editing. Brett says himself in that interview, at the end of the day, it's all about the benjamins.

Regardless, I don't have to watch, but I wish it was more informative, and the livestock got a little better treatment.

If you haven't seen it yet check out this interview:

During the interview Brett addresses some of the concerns that people have mentioned, he also talks about having no editing control over the contents of the show. For example he mentions the tank where they put ice in it; he says they emptied the tank and refilled it but that part was never shown. He also talks about the additives they use, and produce evidently, to cycle the tank. I would love to see the unedited footage but I'm sure that will never happen. I enjoy the show, but I can see how people would be upset because it gives the uninformed the impression that they can set up a tank in one day and fill it up with any fish they want and everything will be ok. For season two Brett does mention in the interview that they are going to make some changes to address some of these concerns as well. I talked with Brett during MACNA and he seemed like a nice, down to earth guy. I can't fault him too much for doing the show. I know people have said that if Animal Planet doesn't let them make changes then they (ATM) should just walk away and quit the show, but I'd bet my meager pay check that not a single one of these people saying that would just walk away from a show that saved their business (and made it grow) ..

I think the show is entertaining, but you are correct they make it look like you can add a full bio-load to a brand new system right away. I would love to know what the mortality rates of the fish that are being added to these brand new systems, it has to be bad. Most of systems they put up seem like a piece of furniture to the customers purchasing their services...

TBH...i find the 2-3 episode that I've watched of this show to be quite annoying, and I think it is very misleading for anybody who may be watching the show and become interested in having a saltwater aquarium...they make it seem as though you can just mix up some saltwater and then immediately add a bunch of fish
