According to a Reuters story A pipeline operated by Exxon Mobil has leaked an estimated 1,000 barrels of crude oil in to the Yellowstone River, Montana. Exxon officials stated on Sunday that traces of oil have been found up to 10 miles downriver from where the spill occurred. The "leak" came from the EMPCo pipeline and was found Saturday morning.
According to the Billings Gazette the clean up effort has been difficult due to the high levels of the river and the fast current of the river.

Oh dont hand me that oil co suck rag. Unless your completely noncrude oil dependent, which includes all lubricants, not just fuel, then the stone throwing can occur. In the US we still drive carbuerated vehicles, v8 cars and SUVs with one person in it while we make fun of those who drive smaller and/or more efficient engines or take the metro system.
While i do agree that they should be taking better safety precautions, they are only doing what the masses are demanding while cutting corners which shaves off the bottom line to stay competitive in the market. Any business does it, the oil industry just has a larger impact than say your local logging operation having a spill.
