TOPIC: AragaMight any good?

AragaMight any good? 2 years 3 months ago #2947

I found an old bottle of AragaMight that I bought about 5 years ago and only used a few times. Has anyone else used this stuff? Does it actually raise Ca and Mg levels? It claims to be "The safe, easy way to add calcium and buffer, as well as strontium, magnesium, barium and other essential trace elements."

Looks like this;

used it years ago and never saw any benefits? why not mix some into tank water at suggested amount and test it?

I've never used it before either. I would bet it is similar to purple up..

P up is heavy on the mg and as we all know MG is the thing newbies cannot relate too, don't test for and never add lol, the aragamilk I think is just melted down rock and unless Im mistaken you would need a very low ph for it to do anything

RHF says it's main ingredient is "fine sand," and that it doesn't fully dissolve in water. I'm inclined to go with his recommendation to not use it. ;)

That's kind of what I had planned on doing but thought I would ask first to see if someone else has already done the dirty work. Sounds like Randy Holmes-Farley has already given it the thumbs down but I may give it a shot anyways.

the only thing you may like is it will show you your tank flow and maybe a dead spot or remind you of Jamie Lee in the Fog lol

The article I remember RHF says just like the bottle does, that it's aragonite @5 microns, +/-... It stays in suspension pretty darned well, but is going to require CO2 to do anything in the tank, a friend of mine and I had bought a half-dozen jars of it one time and like the OP, it had been sitting around so long, I just wanted to get rid of it. I thought about throwing it in the Ca rxtr, but never actually did. If I setup the little tank I've been thinking about, I'll do it and let everyone know what happens. lol

Hank,
I still cant believe you don't have a tank up and running :( hope all is well.

Benny,
I have used AragaMight before and had descent results with it, i suggest using it up according to the instructions since it is paid for!

Haha that's what I was thinking. I was going to toss it out until I turned it over, saw the price tag, and realized I paid $25 for it :pinch:
