This site is for reef enthusiast from all walks of the hobby. It is probably unrealistic to expect that there won't be adversity between fellow reefers from time to time. However, as Skipper has mentioned, personal barbs and post that serve no purpose other than to attack another user will not be allowed. People having issues with another need to conduct their business via PMs, e-mail, whatever it takes to resolve the issues. Negative or positive feedback is not intended as a forum to argue the details of deals gone bad, or character assasinations. For example; inappropriate negative feedback, "Kona boy needs to get a life. He screwed me on our deal. He's so low I bet he kicks his dog." Apropriate negative feedback: "FYI, I have had some recent deals that fell through with Kona boy. Please be cautious." I encourage everyone to contact a Mod if you have any questions regarding the appropriate use of a post. Cheers.

Very well said! That is a great example of the intent of the feedback forum. Many sites do not have a feedback forum because inevitably they lead to arguments and posts with nothing more then personal attacks. The mods and myself do not want to see that happen.
If you have a positive or negative experience with another user you can express the facts as you see them but leave out any "parting blows" or personal attacks. Once a post has been made I would strongly encourage any attempts to remedy the situation be made via pm. I realize there are two sides to every situation and sometimes a breakdown in communication is the main cause of the problem, but bringing the argument public won't help anyone.
Please remember that the purpose of this site is to communicate and share information with fellow hobbyists.

i respect the opinions and members of this site but when injustice rears its ugly head then something must be done. Be it by threat or public humiliation it doesnt matter and we must be accountable for the things we do and say.

Let me add something I learned from a past experience to this to make the point even stronger. As a past President of the now defunct Nebraska Marine Society, I can tell you from experience that this kind of thing, allowed to go on, can kill an entire online reef community. That club did not do enough to stop this from happening and I was part of the problem. I learned some valuable lessons from this and feel skipper and the mods here are doing a great job of keeping negativity out of this community. ALL communications like this should happen via PM. As was said, feed back, good or bad, should consist of only the facts around the situation. Anything else that constitutes an opinon and not the facts should be done in a PM. This is the best way for this online community to stay healthy. Thanks!

Well said Kona! I always like to say to people when things like this occur that this is supposed to be a fun hobby. None of us is going to get rich selling corals, equipment etc. I myself sell/trade corals because I like meeting fellow reef geeks and to offset a little of my costs. Let's keep it clean as was stated above if left unchecked things like this can ruin a great site.

As I have said before NewAgeReefs was made for hobbiests to communicate and learn from each other. I like that people propagate corals since it doesn't take from the reef but this site was not made for selling corals and used equipment either. It is part of the hobby however so there is a place for it in the classifieds.
