Small update... gha is slowly going away. Any tips on clearing the water any?

Adjusted the media basket some, its got floss, carbon, purgien. Prolly need to rinse all of that out next wc. How long is carbon good for anyway?

From my experiences carbon loses its effectiveness after about a month of use, give or take a little depending on bio load and such. If I wait longer than that I tend to see my nutrient levels spike, which I'm guessing is being leeched from over expended carbon. And also putting fresh carbon in could probably help clear your water up a bit

Cleaned up my media rack this weekend. Rinsed out the purigen and dumped out the bag of carbon. Then added two more layers of filer floss (which I just read is what your supposed to do!)

Here is the result of a day after...

Sadly... looks like the bubble algae made its way into this tank off the two rocks I pulled from my ten gallon (WHYYYYYY!!!)

Getting some emerald crabs tomorrow I guess.

Re: Upgrade Time... 29gal BioCube 1 year 1 month ago #13767

It didnt...

i spent 3 hours today pulling, scraping, etc bubble algae off tonight and then pouring hydrogen peroxide on it to kill off the spores, then a good rinse with ro water.

Lil advice... see bubble algae, pull it out! I ended up pulling all of the rock out and ended up leaving a big one out due to how much it was covered.

I doubt i got everything too.. sigh.
